Valentina Popa is an internationally renowned professional with over two decades of experience in international relations and diplomacy. After completing her studies in international political economy and development at Fordham, she built a solid background in foreign affairs, serving as Head of Chancery at the Permanent Mission of the Republic of Moldova to the UN from 2005 to 2008. Popa also worked as a Senior Advisor in the Office of the Prime Minister of Moldova and taught international relations at the university level in her home country. Valentina Popa's international career was further solidified by her extensive work at the United Nations, where she spent six and a half years in strategic positions within the Department of Political Affairs and the Department of Peacekeeping Operations. As Director of International Relations at The Plaza Hotel in New York, her current position under Fairmont management, she focuses on developing high-level strategic partnerships and expanding the brand's presence in non-traditional global markets. Her expertise includes negotiating contracts with international stakeholders, cultural and market analysis, and mentoring teams in multicultural contexts. In addition to her professional achievements, Valentina Popa is also known for her work in the social and journalistic fields. She is the author of a bilingual poetry book titled "Look Who's Talking! / Uite cine vorbește!", which features imaginary monologues of a young child. Collaborating with illustrator Stela Damaschin-Popa, a laureate of the Hans Christian Andersen Award, Popa has dedicated the book's proceeds to the charitable organization "The Moldova Project," which is committed to the protection of children in Moldova. Her fluency in five languages – Romanian, Russian, English, French, and Italian – positions her as a valuable cultural bridge in high-level international dialogues.
