Lilia Pocitari, born on September 26, 1997, in Chișinău, Republic of Moldova, is an exceptional violinist who began studying the violin at the age of three, in a family of musicians. She obtained her bachelor's degree from the Buchmann-Mehta School of Music in Tel Aviv, under the guidance of Ilya Konovalov, concertmaster of the Israel Philharmonic Orchestra, and then continued with Julian Rachlin at the Musik und Kunst Privatuniversität der Stadt Wien. Currently, in 2026, she is perfecting her studies in the master's program for concertmaster/soloist at the Hochschule für Musik Hanns Eisler in Berlin, with Professor Ulf Wallin, following remarkable successes at international competitions such as First Prize at the Bartók World Competition 2023 in Budapest, with a special prize for the performance of a contemporary work, and Second Prize at the Seoul International Music Competition 2025. As a soloist, Lilia Pocitari has graced major European stages, collaborating with renowned orchestras such as the Hungarian Radio Symphony Orchestra, Concerto Budapest, Orchestra Sinfonica di Sanremo, Vienna Chamber Orchestra, Turku Philharmonic Orchestra, and the Hungarian State Opera Orchestra. She has performed under the baton of celebrated conductors, including Zubin Mehta at the Charles Bronfman Auditorium in Tel Aviv, Julian Rachlin at the Wiener Konzerthaus, András Keller, Delyana Lazarova, and Vladimir Spivakov. Concurrently, she performs as a chamber musician alongside artists like Denis Kozhukhin, Sarah McElravy, and Eckart Runge, being praised for her rare intensity, refinement, and a combination of clarity with passion, according to publications such as Hungarian Press and Kronen Zeitung. The artist performs on a 1779 Nicola Bergonzi violin, paired with a Voirin bow, generously loaned by Alpha Capital Anstalt, instruments that amplify her electrifying stage presence. Inspired by the masters of the old violin school, such as Fritz Kreisler, Lilia Pocitari has participated in masterclasses with figures like Pinchas Zukerman, Christian Tetzlaff, and Ștefan Gheorghiu, accumulating awards in competitions from Romania, Lithuania, Ukraine, Bulgaria, Belarus, Russia, and Kazakhstan. Her captivating performances continue to amaze European audiences, solidifying her position as one of the most promising contemporary Moldovan violinists.
