Tatiana Viscun, a remarkable pianist with Moldovan roots, was born in Chelyabinsk, Russia, but consolidated her professional training in Ukraine and the Republic of Moldova. She began her musical studies at the age of four, influenced by her parents' Russian and Ukrainian folk songs, graduating from the Krivoi Rog Special Music School with a degree in piano performance, accompaniment, and pedagogy, then obtaining her master's degree with honors in piano performance, music pedagogy, and choral conducting at the State University of Arts in Chisinau. Inspired by the Russian Piano School, a tradition that gave the world artists such as Sergei Rachmaninoff or Vladimir Horowitz, she later emigrated to the United States, where she developed an impressive career as a soloist, recitalist, and educator, with recitals at Carnegie Hall, Steinway Hall, and DiMenna Center for Classical Music. As a professor with over 35 years of experience, Tatiana Viscun has been teaching at the Brooklyn Music School since 2010, where she is appreciated for the quality instruments and talented colleagues, as well as at her own Piano VISTA studio in East Islip, New York. She has collaborated with institutions such as the Long Island Conservatory, the French-American School of Music, and the Shostakovich School of Music in Brooklyn, and in Moldova, she led the piano department at the Ungheni Music School between 1981 and 1998. Her creations include concert series such as "Revelations," exploring Baroque, Classical, Romantic, and 20th-century music, and "The Music Box - Story Behind the Music," aimed at bringing classical music closer to the general public. Her students have won important competitions and have been admitted to prestigious academies such as Juilliard School, Manhattan School of Music, or the Saint Petersburg Conservatory. Tatiana Viscun has received multiple distinctions, including the Civic Award of the Majority Councilman of the New York City Hall in 2018, the title of Teacher of the Year in Ungheni several times (1985, 1991, 1997), and Diplomas of Recognition from the authorities in Chisinau and Krivoi Rog. A member of the Leschetizky Association, Rachmaninoff Society, and former president of the NYSMTA districts, she is fluent in English, Russian, and Ukrainian. Although details about her personal life remain private, her dedication to education and performance places her among the Moldovan women who promote musical excellence internationally, inspiring generations through her passion for classical piano.
