Lydia Petrigova is a world-renowned dancer and instructor of ballet and Latin dance, originally from Moldova. She began her dancing career at the age of five and developed rapidly, becoming one of the top students and competitors in major dance schools. Lydia obtained an honors degree from the Humanitarian University of St. Petersburg, specializing in Dance Performance, Teaching, and Choreography, supplementing it with studies in child physiology and psychology. This was followed by a master's degree in Ballet Choreography from St. Petersburg State University. Over two decades, Lydia has trained dancers across the globe and held positions as Artistic Director at prestigious dance schools, including Altair in St. Petersburg and InterDance in the United States. She also established the first dedicated children's program in Minneapolis, Minnesota. Her competitive achievements place her at the top of the world ballroom dance pyramid, with titles such as US Open Professional Rising Star Latin Champion, Finalist at the US Open National Professional Ten Dance, and twice World Pro-Am Open Latin Champion in 2009. A member of the National Dance Teachers Association of America and the National Dance Council of America, Lydia is recognized as a world-class dancer and choreographer. In February 2016, Lydia realized her long-term dream of establishing and managing her own academy, founding DC DanceSport Academy in Fairfax, Virginia. This institution has become one of the most prominent ballroom dance training programs in the Mid-Atlantic region of the United States, with students regularly competing and achieving top placements in local, regional, and national competitions. Petrigova, who believes that competition is a lifestyle and that 4-6 hours of daily training is essential for achieving excellence, has incorporated this passion into her mentorship, aiming to inspire and guide brave visionaries toward their personal success.
