Martina Meola, born on November 28, 2012, in Milan, Italy, is an exceptional young pianist with strong ties to the Republic of Moldova. She began her piano studies at the age of six at the "Alexei Stârcea" School of Arts in Chisinau, under the guidance of Professor Irina Bogataia, where she quickly won multiple national and international competitions. At just eight years old, she received the Golden Buzz on the show "Românii au talent" in 2022, finishing third in the final, and in 2023, she performed Beethoven's Piano Concerto No. 1 with orchestra at the European Political Community Summit in Chisinau. Her recent achievements include first place at the "Jeune Chopin" International Competition in Lugano, Switzerland, in 2025, with a jury presided over by Martha Argerich, as well as awards at competitions such as "Piano Talents" in Milan and "Città di Cantù." From the age of nine, Martina was admitted to the special "Young Talents" program at the "Giuseppe Verdi" Conservatory in Milan, where she studies with Professor Silvia Limongelli, becoming one of the youngest students at this prestigious institution. She has participated in masterclasses with renowned musicians such as Evgeny Kissin and Lilya Zilberstein, performing in famous halls in Milan (Sala Verdi), Bologna, Florence, Rome, Munich, Brussels, and Paris, including with youth orchestras. Her collaborations include recitals for the Società dei Concerti di Milano, Steinway & Sons Italy, and charitable events in Chisinau, such as concerts for pediatric palliative care, demonstrating her commitment to the community. She was officially congratulated by the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Moldova for her performances. Martina's personal life reflects a rich cultural mix: her mother is originally from the Republic of Moldova, where she initially emigrated as a doctor, and her father is Italian, whom she met in Italy; the family moved to Moldova when she was four years old. Bilingual and passionate about her mother's country, Martina frequently returns to Chisinau for concerts and summer holidays, publicly stating her desire for the Republic of Moldova to join the European Union. She emphasizes hard work – claiming that 99% of success is sustained effort – dreams of an international career in classical music, performing composers such as Chopin, Prokofiev, Granados, and Schumann, and aspires to inspire future generations of young musicians.
