Romana Iorga, originally from Chișinău, Republic of Moldova, is a remarkable poet who has established herself on the international literary scene with volumes of verse translated and published in English and Romanian. Among her most significant achievements are the collections "Temporary Skin" (Glass Lyre Press, 2024), "a woman made entirely of air" (dancing girl press, 2025), and the upcoming "Witness Protection," winner of the Black River Chapbook Competition (Black Lawrence Press, 2027). She has also published in Romanian "Auz simplu" (Semne Press, 2000) and "Poemul sosirii" (Glasul Press, 1996), and her poems have appeared in prestigious magazines such as The Nation, New England Review, Gulf Coast, and RHINO, earning her nominations for Best of the Net and Pushcart awards. With a solid background in literature, Romana Iorga holds a BA in Romanian and English Literature from the University of Bucharest and an MFA in Creative Writing from the University of Minnesota. Her works explore profound themes such as pain, silence, absence, and memory, often inspired by personal experiences of loss and migration, reflecting a unique lyrical voice marked by surreal imagery and existential questions. Her verses have been praised by critics such as Kaveh Akbar and Chelsea Dingman for their ability to capture the fragility of the human condition and to reconstruct complex inner landscapes. Currently, Romana Iorga lives in Lausanne, Switzerland, where she continues to create amidst "multilingual forests," speaking fluent English, French, Romanian, and Russian.
