Elena Glizan is a canoeist from the Republic of Moldova, noted for her performances in sprint canoe and canoe marathon events. In 2024, she started the year at the top of the world rankings in the 1000-meter event and was in second place in the 5000-meter event, confirming her status as a top athlete in international competitions. In 2023, she was named "up-and-coming athlete of the year" after winning bronze at the European Canoe Sprint Championship. One of her most significant achievements came at the Canoe Marathon World Championships in Gyor, Hungary, where she won the silver medal in the U23 category, in the single canoe event over a distance of 10.7 km, with a time of 57:57.49. Also in 2024, Elena Glizan took to the podium at the U23 Canoe Sprint World Championships, where, alongside Mihai Chihaia, she won silver in the mixed canoe 500-meter event.
