About

Liliana Damaschin is a doctor from the Republic of Moldova who has dedicated her career to supporting vulnerable populations in Africa, accumulating significant experience in general medicine and pediatrics. After a solid education obtained at the "Nicolae Testemitanu" University of Medicine and Pharmacy in Chișinău, where she studied diseases specific to tropical areas, she developed her skills through collaborations with international medical organizations. She has worked with organizations such as Médecins du Monde and completed a Master's degree in Public Health, subsequently becoming involved in health policy programs at the European Union level. Dr. Damaschin's clinical experience in Africa began in 2014, when she exposed herself to extreme medical conditions, including the Ebola epidemic in Sierra Leone. During her work in Freetown, every patient presenting with diarrheal syndrome and fever was suspected of being infected with the fatal virus, exposing her to considerable risks in the exercise of her profession. Since 2018, she has been working in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, at a private hospital with 15 years of existence that collaborates with the Government and the Ministry of Health of Ethiopia, and later became involved in the development of family medicine in East Africa, a medical branch that remains underdeveloped on the continent. Liliana Damaschin's humanitarian mission is marked by devotion and professional courage, despite having suffered serious exposure to infectious diseases, including malaria, which did not discourage her from continuing her work. African patients appreciate the presence of international doctors, considering them to possess vast experience and to respect medical ethics and confidentiality. The doctor expresses deep satisfaction when returning after a day's work, thinking that she has saved a life, and her motivation is not recognition, but the desire to help people in countries with limited resources and to contribute to a healthier world.
