Garaeva Iana

Iana Garaeva, born on April 29, 2002, is one of the most promising athletes from the Republic of Moldova, specializing in hurdles and relays. She has won multiple national championship titles, including 9 times in the 100m hurdles and 400m hurdles, as well as 7 indoor championship titles. Among her remarkable achievements are her personal bests in the 100m hurdles (14.11s, set on July 23, 2023), 400m hurdles (1:00.91, Istanbul, June 12, 2021), and 60m hurdles (8.80s, Chisinau, February 2025), earning her international recognition. She has successfully represented the Republic of Moldova at Balkan and European competitions, winning notable medals in the U20 category. At the Balkan Championship in Istanbul (2020), she won bronze in the 400m hurdles, and in 2021, she became the Balkan champion in the same event with a time of 1:00.91, plus a silver in relays and other podium finishes. She also won gold in the 400m hurdles and bronze in the 4x100m relay at the European Championships of Small States (San Marino, 2021), contributing to Moldova's 4th place finish at the European Team Championships. Her athletic training began at Sports School No. 3 in Bender, where she was coached by Tatiana Zabaluhina, contributing to the institution's reputation as one of the top in the country. She collaborates with the Athletics Federation of the Republic of Moldova (FAM), participating in events funded by the Ministry of Education, Culture, and Research.
