Alexandra Emilianov, born on September 19, 1999, in Chisinau, is one of the most remarkable athletes from the Republic of Moldova, specializing in the discus throw. From a young age, she began to excel in athletics, winning gold medals at the U18 World Championships in 2015, the U20 European Championships in 2017, and the U20 World Championships in 2018, along with other distinctions such as bronze at the U20 World Championships in 2016 and silver at the U23 European Championships in 2019. She participated in the Tokyo 2020 and Paris 2024 Olympic Games, where she qualified for the final with a throw of 64.33 meters, finishing in 11th place, and in 2024, she set the national record of 64.42 meters. She has notably collaborated with the Athletics Federation of the Republic of Moldova, where she is coached by Vadim Hranovschi, and has represented her country at major international competitions, including the 2024 European Championships in Rome, where she achieved 11th place. An important stage in her career was her studies and university competitions in the United States, at the University of Kansas, where she was part of the Kansas Jayhawks team, winning Big 12 titles and finishing second at the NCAA Championships in 2022, becoming an All-American. These experiences refined her technique and contributed to her ranking in the world's top 21 in the discus throw. Alexandra's personal life is marked by family influence, her father, Ivan Emilianov, being a former shot putter with three Olympic participations, who introduced her to sports at the age of 11, after her volleyball coach retired. With a height of 184 cm, she combines hereditary determination with exemplary dedication, becoming a symbol of Moldovan sport and a source of inspiration for young female athletes in the country.
