Ludmila Cristea, born on March 27, 1986, in Ștefan Vodă, is one of the most remarkable athletes from the Republic of Moldova, active in judo and women's freestyle wrestling. At just 14 years old, she debuted at the Sydney 2000 Olympic Games, competing in the lightweight judo category, where she finished 19th. Later transitioning to freestyle wrestling, she participated in the 2008 Beijing Olympics, ranking 10th in the 55 kg category, after defeating Venezuela's Marcia Andrades in the round of 16. Her career includes numerous European medals: silver at the 2006, 2008, and 2011 European Championships (55 kg categories), bronze in 2012 (59 kg), plus other notable world rankings, such as 5th place in 2005 and 2006. She consistently represented the National Team of the Republic of Moldova, affiliated with the relevant international federations, and was coached by personalities such as Victor Peicov, Victor Zilberman, and Viktor Korecenkov. With a height of 165 cm and a weight of around 55-59 kg, Ludmila won the title at the Golden Grand Prix in 2008 and achieved top rankings at tournaments like the Ukrainian Tournament (gold in 2011) and Alexander Medved Prizes (bronze in 2011). Her performances have brought visibility to Moldova in women's wrestling, an emerging sport for the country, contributing to the development of future generations of female athletes.
