About

Lidia Botezatu, born on October 12, 1949, in the town of Hâncești, is one of the most beloved pop music singers in the Republic of Moldova, with a career of over five decades marked by timeless hits. She studied music theory at the 'Ștefan Neaga' Music College in Chișinău between 1963 and 1967, and in her final year of study, she was invited by composer Mihai Dolgan to join the legendary band 'Noroc', where she became the emblematic female voice. Among her most famous songs are 'Bădiță Petre', 'De ce?', 'Frumoasa mea patrie', 'Chișinăul meu cel mic', 'Basarabia', and 'Înflorea odată crinul', many composed by her husband, which became golden hits performed during tours across the USSR and recorded at the 'Melodia' record label. The artist collaborated closely with the band 'Noroc', with which she performed thousands of concerts at home and abroad, including in Tambov and Cherkasy in the years 1970-1971, and with organizations such as 'Moldova-Concert', where she prepares major events, such as the anniversary concert 'Clipa dragostei' at the 'Nicolae Sulac' National Palace. Her distinctions include the title of Master of Art (1994), the Order of the Republic (2012, together with her son Radu Dolgan), and People's Artist (2018), awarded for her exceptional contribution to promoting Moldovan cultural values. Her warm voice and stage presence have captivated generations, often being called Mihai Dolgan's muse and the soul of 'Noroc'. In her personal life, Lidia Botezatu was married from 1969 to Mihai Dolgan, with whom she formed a legendary artistic and family couple until his death in 2008; together they have a son, Radu Dolgan, People's Artist and current director of the band 'Noroc', who continues the family's musical tradition. Her love for singing was inherited from her mother, who sang in the church choir in Hâncești, and the artist maintains boundless energy at over 75 years of age, participating in rehearsals and concerts with the same passion. Her united family and belief in authentic values remain the pillars of her life, refusing private performances such as weddings to preserve her artistic integrity.
