Zorea Vera

Vera Zorea is an athlete from the Republic of Moldova specializing in sambo, originally from the city of Călărași, who has distinguished herself through consistent results in national and international competitions. She started sports at the age of 12, initially in judo, and later dedicated herself to sambo, where she competed in the 54 kg category. Her achievements include several important medals, including a bronze at the European Sambo Championships, and she is also mentioned in the sports press as a two-time world vice-champion, as well as an athlete with junior and youth titles. In addition to her performance activities, Vera Zorea is also involved in training the new generation of athletes, coaching children and girls. She attends the "Mihail Viteazul" Sports School in Călărași and has spoken publicly about the difficulties and satisfactions of practicing sports outside of Chișinău, where infrastructure and resources can be more limited. However, her results have shown that performance can be built even in small cities, through discipline, character, and the support of coaches. Vera Zorea also participated in other combat disciplines, being presented in public sources as a European kurash champion and a sumo medalist, which shows her versatility in contact sports. In materials dedicated to her activity, part of her personal journey also appears: she was initially motivated by her brother to try judo, and her family viewed her beginnings in sports with reservations, but she continued and built a solid career. Currently, she is seen as an example for women's sports in the Republic of Moldova, both through her medals and her role as a coach and role model for young female athletes.
