Zinaida Savcenco Hero of Socialist Labor, Decree Date: 30.04.1966 Medal No.: 10952 Order of Lenin No.: 360190 Zinaida Savcenco was a team leader in the "Biruința" collective farm in the Rezina district, Moldavian SSR. She was born on March 7, 1932, in Șoldănești. In 1953, she graduated from the agronomy department of the "G. I. Kotovski" Agricultural Technical School in Cucuruzeni. In 1953, she worked as a crop agronomist at the Sămășcani Machine and Tractor Station (MTS) in the Rezina district. Between 1953 and 1956, she worked as an agronomist in the "Șevcenko" collective farm in the Rezina district. During the period 1956–1957, she worked as a plant protection agronomist in the "Biruința" collective farm in her native village, Șoldănești (Rezina district, and from 1980 – Șoldănești district). Between 1957 and 1960, she was the team leader of the fruit and viticulture brigade, and from 1960 to 1966, she was the team leader of the complex brigade of the "Biruința" collective farm. Her profound knowledge and experience in organizational work helped her achieve success in harvesting high and stable yields. During the period 1963–1965, the brigade led by her harvested 26.6 centners of tobacco per hectare over an area of 30 hectares – 11.1 centners more than the collective farm average. In the same period, 2,366 centners of tobacco leaves were sold to the state, compared to the planned 1,225 centners. Rich harvests were also obtained from other crops. In 1965, she harvested 24 quintals of winter wheat per hectare on an area of 234 hectares, compared to the planned 16 quintals and the collective farm's average of 22 quintals. The corn harvest was 43 quintals per hectare on an area of 143 hectares, 10 quintals more than the collective farm's average. By Decree of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR of April 30, 1966, for successes achieved in increasing the production and procurement of tobacco and sunflower, Zinaida Savchenko was awarded the title of Hero of Socialist Labor, with the presentation of the Order of Lenin and the gold medal "Hammer and Sickle". In the period 1966–1978, she was the team leader of the tobacco cultivation brigade in the "Biruința" collective farm. From 1978, she worked as head of a section, and later led the tobacco cultivation brigade in the "Șoldănești" state farm. She was a deputy in the Supreme Soviet of the Moldavian SSR of the IVth (1955–1959) and Vth (1959–1963) convocations. A delegate to the XIIIth Congress of the CPSU (1966). A member of the Auditing Commission of the Communist Party of Moldova (1966–1971). She was elected a member of the Rezina District Committee of the Communist Party of Moldova and a deputy in the local Soviets of People's Deputies. From 1986, she became a pensioner with personal status of all-union importance. She was decorated with the Order of Lenin (04.30.1966) and medals.
