Cristina Robu is a Moldovan academic and researcher with a multifaceted background in Francophone studies and literary theory. She holds a Ph.D. in French and Francophone Studies from Indiana University Bloomington, as well as a doctorate in Literary Theory from the Academy of Sciences of Moldova in Chisinau. Previously, she completed a Master's degree in Philology at the "Ion Creangă" State Pedagogical University in Chisinau and a Master's degree in French and Francophone Studies at Indiana University, providing her with a strong foundation for research and teaching in the humanities. As a visiting professor in the Department of French and Francophone Studies at Davidson College, Cristina Robu dedicates her work to teaching the French language and Francophone culture, with a special emphasis on the cultural space. Her doctoral research focused on the evolution and narrativization of sick bodies in contemporary Quebec literature and cinema, a theme that extends into the field of medical humanities and film theory. Her areas of expertise include gender studies, literary theory, medical humanities, and Quebec studies, and her pedagogical approach is marked by a concern for representations of minority groups and the LGBTQIA2S+ community. Robu's passion for literature, film, and critical theory naturally led her to dedicate herself to education, a field where she can share her enthusiasm with her students and learn from their perspectives. Through her work at Davidson College in the United States, she contributes to the intellectual formation of American students, bringing Moldovan and Quebecois perspectives into Western academic discourse and promoting a deeper understanding of the diversity of Francophone culture and the representation of marginalized individuals in contemporary literary and cinematic texts.
