Carolina Popovici is a Moldovan diplomat with a remarkable career in diplomatic services and international organizations. With over 15 years of experience at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Moldova, she held positions of responsibility in Moldova's Permanent Mission to the United Nations, where she served as First Secretary between 2009-2012 and as Counselor and Deputy Permanent Representative between 2015-2019. In these roles, she coordinated a wide range of complex issues, including matters of the General Assembly, the Security Council, and ECOSOC, demonstrating expertise in multilateral relations and diplomatic negotiations. Throughout her career at the United Nations, Carolina Popovici held leadership positions in several UN system bodies and committees. She served as Vice-Chair of the UN Commission for Social Development in 2018, Vice-Chair of the UNDP/UNFPA/UNOPS Executive Board in 2017, Chair of the UN Committee on Conferences in 2012, and Vice-Chair of the Third Committee of the General Assembly in 2011. She also worked as a Consulting Partner at UNOPS, supporting the organization in matters of governance and partnerships. Carolina Popovici holds a Master of Arts degree from Columbia University Graduate School of Arts and Sciences and possesses a deep knowledge of several languages: fluency in English, Russian, and Romanian, advanced knowledge of French, and elementary knowledge of Spanish.
