About

Mina Poleanskaia is a Russian writer, prose author, and essayist born in 1945 in Rîșcani, Moldavian SSR, into a Jewish family originating from Bălți. After graduating from the Faculty of Philology at the Leningrad Pedagogical Institute and completing special courses dedicated to Petersburg-Leningrad literature, specializing in Pushkin in Saint Petersburg, she worked as a guide in the literary department of city tours in Leningrad. Her solid philological background and passion for literature marked a career dedicated to the study and promotion of Russian cultural heritage. After the fall of the Soviet Union, Poleanskaia emigrated to Germany, where she continued her creative and cultural activities. In 1995, in Berlin, together with her husband Boris Antipov and son Igor Polianski, she founded the cultural and political magazine "Oglinda Enigmelor" (The Mirror of Enigmas), which brought together writers from the Russian diaspora and served as an important platform for the exchange of ideas between Russian and German literature. The magazine, which existed until 2003, published contributions from renowned writers and hosted consistent collaborations with the prose author Friedrich Gorenstein, on whose work and life Poleanskaia wrote numerous studies and essays. Her literary achievements include a series of books and essays dedicated to Russian literature and cultural movements, such as "Я — писатель незаконный" (2004), "Brač moy tayniy: Marina Tsvetaeva v Berline" (2001), "Foxtrot belogo rytsarya: Andrey Belyy v Berline" (2009), and "Berlinskie zapiski o Fridrikhe Gorenshteine" (2011). She is a member of the Union of Russian Writers, the German Pushkin Society, and the German branch of PEN International. Her scientific and creative work has been honored with numerous awards and nominations, consolidating her status as an important figure in Russian diaspora literature.
