Svetlana Mamaeva is a Moldovan-Canadian model and entrepreneur who settled in Canada to pursue her higher education. Born and raised in the Republic of Moldova, she moved to Canada with her grandparents and graduated from York University's Schulich School of Business with an Honours degree in Finance. Over the years, Mamaeva has worked in various professional sectors, including customer service at CIBC, as a financial analyst at PowerStream Energy Services, and as an analyst at Brookfield Properties, successfully balancing her career in real estate and technology with her endeavors in the modeling and beauty pageant industry. In the realm of pageantry, Svetlana has had a remarkable trajectory, representing Canada at several prestigious international competitions. She was Miss World Canada 2020 and represented Canada at Miss World 2021 in Puerto Rico, where she placed in the top 40 semi-finalists, achieving Canada's best placement in a decade. Previously, she participated in Miss Universe Canada and Miss Tourism World Canada, and her pageantry experience was fueled by a passion cultivated since childhood when she represented Moldova at Mini Miss World. Beyond modeling and beauty pageants, Svetlana has dedicated herself to charitable causes and the financial empowerment of women. She created FinPowered, a free financial education program for women, which she launched during the COVID-19 pandemic and for which she held over 100 free workshops in both Canada and Moldova. Mamaeva also studied at Harvard Extension School, where she completed a postgraduate certificate program in Business Communications, thus strengthening her public presentation and speaking skills, and later completed her Master's in Business Administration at Schulich.
