About
Kateryna Lykhoglyad is an investigative journalist and documentary filmmaker with a distinguished career dedicated to exposing corruption and critical social issues in Ukraine. Born in Tiraspol, Moldova, she pursued her education in journalism at Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv, where she earned a degree in Editing and Publishing. Throughout her career spanning over eight years in journalism, Lykhoglyad has worked for prestigious institutions such as kyivpost.com, Slidstvo.info, and Suspilny, producing investigations that have brought attention to serious issues affecting Ukrainian society. Her journalistic work has focused on exposing political corruption and systemic abuses. Through her work at slidstvo.info, Lykhoglyad co-authored investigations that revealed how the former presidents' party was paying for parliamentary votes, documented safety irregularities in the case of a tragic fire at a holiday camp, and her most recent investigation titled "Prison of Opportunity" exposed the system of privileges in prisons, leading to the dismissal of staff involved in corruption. Her work on the case of anti-corruption activist Kateryna Gandziuk, who was attacked with acid and died under mysterious circumstances, remains a profound reflection of the dangers faced by civic actors who oppose corruption. In February 2022, Lykhoglyad received the Václav Havel Journalism Fellowship from radiosvoboda.org, a recognition program by RFE/RL and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Czech Republic, marking the pinnacle of her contributions to investigative journalism. She subsequently continued her work as the executive producer of the "Are you okay?" project, dedicated to the stories of refugees and internally displaced persons from the conflict in Ukraine, demonstrating a profound dedication to reporting on the human impact of crises and social injustice.
