Diana Lungu, born on December 3, 1984, in Nisporeni, Republic of Moldova, began her journalism career during high school, collaborating as a non-staff correspondent for the independent newspaper "Gazeta de Vest" with articles on social, political, and historical topics. A graduate of the Faculty of Philosophy, Sociology section, at "Al. I. Cuza" University in Iași (class of 2007), she attended the Moldovan School of Journalism (class of 2007-2008). Until 2008, she worked as a journalist in Moldova, then as a press officer for the National Parliament, contributing 12 articles to Global Voices on topics such as tensions in the Moldova-Transnistria security zone, political crises, linguistic debates, and historical commemorations. After an Open Society scholarship, she moved to the Netherlands to pursue a Master's degree in "Analysing Europe" at Maastricht University, where she later worked at the European Journalism Centre. Her career in journalism expanded internationally through collaborative projects, culminating in her role as Project and Grants Manager at Free Press Unlimited in the Netherlands, where she contributed to the launch of the Directory of European Journalism Networks, a database for collaborative and cross-border journalism networks. Active on platforms such as MediaForum and LinkedIn, Diana Lungu promotes independent journalism and professional ethics, reflecting a trajectory dedicated to public information and the support of a free press. Although details about her personal life remain limited in public sources, her thoughts are constantly directed towards Moldova, her native country marked by the post-Soviet transition. Her complementary training in economics – a Bachelor's in Business Administration in Lithuania and a Master's in Business Economics-Marketing at Ghent University (2017-2018) – has provided her with a critical perspective on the economic environment, which she applies to the management of journalistic projects in the Netherlands, successfully adapting to a multicultural European context.
