About

Valentina Iusuphodjaev, born on October 6, 1969, in the city of Camenca, is a prominent figure in the Moldovan film industry. She received her education by studying philology at the Faculty of Letters of the Moldova State University (1987-1992) and then pursued a doctorate in philosophy and aesthetics at the Academy of Sciences of Moldova (1993-1995). Her career in media and filmmaking began in 1993-1994 at the national radio, continuing with positions as a literary editor and assistant director at Profilm Company (1996-1998), before dedicating herself to independent film and music video production at Brio Film Productions, an activity she has been carrying out from 2005 to the present. Throughout her career, Valentina Iusuphodjaev has produced numerous feature films and short films that have gained visibility in the local and international market, being a member of the Union of Cinematographers of Moldova. In March 2021, she was appointed director of the National Center for Cinematography (CNC) of the Republic of Moldova, after winning the competition for this position in the autumn of 2020. In this capacity, she took on the responsibility of managing a key public institution, empowered to implement state policies in the field of cinematography and to administer the funding of Moldovan film productions. As director of the CNC, Valentina Iusuphodjaev faces significant structural challenges, including the restoration of national film archives, which comprise over 2,000 titles in severe states of degradation across multiple locations. Her objectives include strengthening the filmmaking community, increasing transparency in the management of public funds, and creating a favorable environment for national and international film productions. In March 2026, she was also appointed to a seat on the Board of Directors of Teleradio-Moldova, the state's public broadcasting institution.
