About

Oxana B. Gluscencova is a researcher of Moldovan origin who has contributed significantly to neurobiology and genetics studies internationally. A graduate of Moldova State University, Chisinau, Republic of Moldova, with a Bachelor of Science degree, she moved to Canada where she built a distinguished career in medical research. Since 2004, Oxana has worked as a technologist in the laboratory led by Dr. Gabrielle L. Boulianne at The Hospital for Sick Children in Toronto, contributing to complex studies on obesity and neurodegenerative diseases using experimental models with Drosophila. Her research has focused on understanding the mechanisms of neurodegenerative diseases, particularly amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS). After joining the Park Laboratory in 2019, Oxana became actively involved in investigations into the MATR3 protein and its role in ALS pathogenesis, using Drosophila models. Her work has been published in prestigious scientific journals, including nature.com and other internationally indexed publications, and has included studies on age-dependent motor loss and neurodegeneration. Through her work at the Research Institute of the Hospital for Sick Children in Toronto and collaborations with top research teams, Oxana has demonstrated her commitment to advancing knowledge on complex genetic diseases. Her expertise in experimental methodologies and her dedication to neurobiology studies have made her a valuable collaborator in Canadian medical research, contributing to efforts to unravel the mysteries of neurodegenerative diseases and potential therapeutic pathways.
