Founder of the jewelry brand Wild Wagon
About
Cristina Figursky, originally from the Republic of Moldova, has made a name for herself as a designer and entrepreneur in the jewelry field, founding the brand Wild Wagon. The brand evolved from postcards and illustrated stationery to contemporary collections of silver jewelry plated with semi-precious stones. A graduate with a Bachelor of Fine Arts (BFA) in the United States, where she studied drawing, painting, illustration, and photography, she began her entrepreneurial career in 2020, launching the website in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic. Today, Wild Wagon specializes in bespoke pieces made of gold, diamonds, platinum, and precious stones, combining artistic design with traditional craftsmanship, and is sold online with plans for retail expansion. After leaving Moldova at 15 for a student exchange program in the USA, where she stayed for six years, Cristina temporarily returned home before eventually emigrating to New Zealand, to Auckland, where she has lived for eight years. Here, she took jewelry courses at the Peter Minturn Goldsmith School and collaborates with local workshops, including Figursky Atelier launched in 2022, as well as with goldsmiths and setters for production. She manages the business single-handedly, with occasional support from her husband, Eugen Figursky, promoting products through relationships with influencers, PR agencies, and strategic gifting, aiming for sustainable, self-funded growth. On a personal level, Cristina is a mother to a son named Leo, born during her transition into jewelry design, an experience that inspired her redesign of a family diamond engagement ring. Influenced by her childhood in Chisinau and her exposure to art in Nashville and New York, she dreams of expanding Wild Wagon/Figursky into artistic statement pieces and charitable involvement, particularly supporting orphanages in Moldova and vulnerable children in New Zealand, emphasizing perseverance, attention to detail, and passion for creation as examples for future female entrepreneurs.
