Alexandrina Ciubotaru, born on September 17, 2005, is a remarkable weightlifter from the Republic of Moldova, originally from Bălți, who has won multiple medals at European junior competitions. At the U20 European Championship in Bucharest in 2023, in the up to 76 kg category, she won three gold medals, lifting 93 kg in the snatch and 117 kg in the clean and jerk, for a total of 210 kg, surpassing athletes from Turkey and Great Britain. Subsequently, in 2024, she became the U20 European vice-champion in the 75 kg category, with gold in the snatch (102 kg), silver in the clean and jerk (125 kg), and a total of 227 kg, demonstrating impressive progression in her sports career. Her success is largely due to coach Leonid Șpac from the Sports School in Bălți, where she trained, as well as her dedication and intense work. She has proudly represented the Republic of Moldova at various European championships, including U20 and U23, contributing to the national record alongside other Moldovan athletes such as Ecaterina Grabucea or Iulian Betca. Although she has also achieved placements like 8th place at the European Championships in Chișinău or two bronze medals at other junior competitions, her top performances place her among the most promising weightlifters in the country. Alexandrina's personal life is closely tied to weightlifting, the sport she has been passionately dedicated to from a young age, balancing rigorous training with the support of her family and the sports community in Bălți. As a young 20-year-old athlete, she inspires future generations in the Republic of Moldova, where weightlifters face challenges such as limited funding, but continue to bring national glory through exceptional results at the continental level.
