Emilia Cîrîcu Budeanu, born on October 6, 1993, in Chișinău, is a remarkable freestyle wrestler from the Republic of Moldova, active in the 50 kg weight category. Her sports career began in 2005, at the age of 10, at the Republican Sports Lyceum, at the insistence of her father, a former wrestler. She became a six-time national champion between 2008 and 2013, achieving outstanding international medals, such as gold at the 2013 Junior World Championships (44 kg) and silver at the Junior European Championships in the same year. Among her best senior performances are 5th place at the European Championships in 2021, 2020, and 2014, as well as 8th place at the 2022 Europeans, consistently competing in tournaments such as Dan Kolov - Nikola Petrov or Yasar Dogu. The athlete proudly represented the national team of the Republic of Moldova, being included in the official teams in 2025, affiliated with the PL Sports Club "Nicolae" from Chisinau (CSPLN) and the Army Sports Center (CSA). Coached throughout her career by specialists such as Petru Chiperi, Petru Marta, Nicolae Scurtul, Roman Dermenji, and O. Savva, Emilia participated in World and European Championships, recently ranking first in the Republic of Moldova Women's Wrestling Championship. Despite facing challenges such as maintaining strict weight or poor training conditions in the country, her perseverance was rewarded with medals and international recognition through United World Wrestling. Emilia's personal life is marked by family devotion: her father, Vasile Budeanu, was her main supporter, encouraging her to fight for a better future, and her younger siblings shared her passion for sports. A student at the University of Physical Education and Sports, majoring in wrestling coaching, she aspires to become a coach and participate in the Olympic Games. Her motto, "Fallen? Get up and move forward," reflects her resilience in the face of sacrifices, refusing tempting offers from abroad to remain loyal to her homeland.
