About
Evanghelina Ciobanu was born in Chisinau, Republic of Moldova. She completed her Bachelor's degree in Cello Performance at Park University International Music Center, studying under Daniel Veis in 2019, and her Master's degree in Cello Performance at the University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music, under Ilya Finkelshteyn, in 2021. During her school years, Evanghelina won several competitions, including third prize at the National Competition "Antonina Lucinschi" (Moldova, 2007) and second prize at the International Competition "George Georgescu" (Romania, 2012). She also received scholarships from the Kansas City Music Club, Sigma Alpha Iota, and the Georgie Award for Civic Engagement from the Johns Hopkins Peabody Conservatory. Evanghelina was a member of numerous orchestras. She held the positions of Principal Cellist in the Wonderful Youth Orchestra (2013), where they performed in Croatia, Italy, Serbia, and Slovenia, and in the National Symphonic Orchestra "Tele-radio Moldova" (2013), where they toured South Korea. She was a member of the Central European Initiative Youth Orchestra (Italy, 2012), the International Center for Music Chamber Orchestra 2014-2019, and the Florida Symphony Orchestra in the 2019-2020 season. In 2022, she participated in the Sitka, Alaska International Cello Seminar and the Castleman Quartet Program in New York, where she performed solo and chamber music. Evanghelina was an artist-in-residence at the Springwell Senior Community Center in the 2022-2023 season. Evanghelina has performed in Europe, the United States, and South Korea as a soloist, chamber musician, and orchestral member. She has taught at numerous music schools, including KC Music Academy, Cincinnati School of Music, Baltimore School for the Arts, Baltimore Symphony OrchKids, and the Peabody Institute of Johns Hopkins University. Currently, Evanghelina is pursuing a Doctor of Musical Arts (DMA) in Cello Performance at the Peabody Institute of Johns Hopkins University, under the tutelage of Alan Stepansky.
