About
Lilia Amarfii was born on November 8, 1949, in the town of Orhei. At the age of 6, she entered the world of music, already being a student at the Children's Music School in the town of Orhei. Later, she continued her musical activity in the "Codru" Music and Dance Ensemble, conducted by Vasile Asauleac. With Lilia Amarfii as the soloist of the ensemble, the group successfully performed at various National and International Festivals and Competitions, returning home with the highest distinctions and awards. In 1967, she left for the Russian Federation, where she graduated with honors from the State Institute of Theatre Arts in Moscow. Starting from 1972, she became a soloist at the Moscow Operetta Theatre, making her debut on its stage in the lead role of the operetta "The Gypsy Baron" by J. Strauss. She toured the USA, the Czech Republic, Germany, Italy, Israel, Hungary, France, etc. Throughout her life, she received high awards of the Russian Federation: Honored Artist (1983), People's Artist (1998), Order of Friendship (2003), Order of Honor (2010). Lilia Amarfii passed away in 2010 in Moscow, but remained a living reflection of success and creativity, representing the pride of the Orhei region, and being called "the daughter of the town of Orhei". Taking into consideration the requests received and attached, for the purpose of eternalizing the memory of the renowned opera singer Lilia Amarfii, it was decided on the basis of the Decision of the Orhei District Council No. 5/8 of December 14, 2017 to install a commemorative plaque on the facade of the "A. Suruceanu" District Cultural Center, municipality of Orhei.
