Eugenia Sorocean was the chairwoman of the "Viața Nouă" collective farm in Florești district, Moldavian SSR. She was born on March 4, 1922, in the village of Băhrinești, Florești district. She started working at the age of 13 as an unskilled laborer at the tobacco factory in Florești. In 1944, she worked as a section foreman, head of the packaging section, and sorter at the same factory. Later, she was elected chairwoman of the executive committee of the village Soviet of workers' deputies in Băhrinești, after which she worked as head of the political department for work among women at the Machine and Tractor Station (MTS) in Mărculești, Florești district. From 1952, she was the chairwoman of the "28 Iunie" collective farm in Florești district. In 1955, after graduating from the Republican Party School at the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Moldova, she took over the leadership of the "Viața Nouă" collective farm in the same district. In this position, her organizational skills and ability to work with people were fully demonstrated. Under Eugenia Sorocean's leadership, the collective farm became a leading farm in the district, achieving rich harvests year after year, high productivity in the livestock sector, and exceeding the plans for selling agricultural products to the state. In 1957, for achieving large harvests, she was awarded the Order of the Red Banner of Labor. By Decree of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR of March 7, 1960, in honor of the 50th anniversary of International Women's Day, for outstanding labor achievements and particularly fruitful social activity, Eugenia Grigorievna Sorocean was awarded the title of Hero of Socialist Labor, with the presentation of the Order of Lenin and the gold medal "Hammer and Sickle". In the following years, the "New Life" collective farm continued to achieve high indicators in field crops and animal husbandry, for which the chairwoman was decorated, in 1966, with a second Order of the Red Banner of Labor. In 1968, Eugenia Sorocean was appointed director of the "Berezovski" breeding state farm (Berezchi village) in the Anenii Noi district, Moldavian SSR. For success in the state farm's production, she was decorated, at the end of the eighth five-year plan (1966–1970), with the Order of the October Revolution. Between 1974–1979, she worked as the chairwoman of "Moldplemjiovobedinenie" (Republican Association for Breeding Pedigree Livestock). She was a delegate to the XIX (1952) and XX (1956) Congresses of the CPSU and to numerous congresses of the Communist Party of Moldova. At the IV–VII, IX, and X Congresses of the CPM, she was elected a member of the party's Central Committee (1952–1959, 1960–1963). She was elected deputy to the Supreme Soviet of the USSR for the V–VI convocations (1958–1966) and to the Supreme Soviet of the Moldavian SSR for the VIIIth convocation (1971–1975), a member of the People's Control Committee of the Moldavian SSR, a member of the Anenii Noi district committee of the Communist Party of Moldova, and a deputy to local Soviets. In 1979, she retired. She was decorated with the Orders of: Lenin (07.03.1960), October Revolution (08.04.1971), 2 Orders of the Red Banner of Labour (15.02.1957; 30.04.1966), medals, as well as with the Diploma of Honour of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the Moldavian SSR.
