Jana Maftei is a prominent figure in Romanian higher education, holding the position of university professor doctor at "Danubius" University in Galați. With an academic career spanning over three decades, she has consistently progressed through various teaching ranks, from university assistant (starting in 1997) to lecturer, associate professor, and finally university professor (since 2015). Her specialization in public international law, diplomatic and consular law positions her as an authority in these fields, teaching complex subjects such as Jurisdiction Immunity in Diplomatic and Consular Law, as well as Institutions Involved in Combating International Crimes. Over the years, Jana Maftei has held administrative and leadership positions, serving as Head of the Department of International Relations and European Studies (2008-2011) and Director of the Department of Public Law and Private Law (2011-2015). Her academic training took place in both Romanian and international institutions, earning a doctorate in law from the State University of the Republic of Moldova and specializing in international relations practices at the Romanian Diplomatic Institute. Her scientific activity is reflected in numerous articles and research published in fields such as the Danube navigation regime, diplomatic protection, and the status of individuals in public international law. Her involvement in quality management and higher education evaluation is demonstrated through active participation in continuing education programs and European projects dedicated to quality assurance. Jana Maftei has attended specialized courses organized by the Romanian Agency for Quality Assurance in Higher Education, as well as international e-learning programs and innovative technologies in education, demonstrating a constant commitment to modernizing and raising pedagogical standards in the institution where she works.
