About

The artist's practice develops from a hybrid identity, shaped by diverse cultural contexts, early losses, and the challenge of navigating foreign countries and languages alone. These experiences continue to ground his work, which explores themes such as identity, memory, and the representation of the contemporary human condition. The artist was born in Chișinău, Republic of Moldova, when it was still part of the Soviet Union. In his adolescence, he moved to Oradea, Romania, where he completed both his high school and university studies. He holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts (BFA) from the Faculty of Visual Arts at the University of Cluj-Napoca (Oradea extension) and, more recently, a degree in Art History from UNED (Universidad Nacional de Educación a Distancia), Spain. Starting in 2016, the artist has developed a series of works based on autobiographical reflection and continuous evolution. His projects address themes such as death and mourning (Pământeşti, The Important Bigwigs, The Bacchae, Fetiches), identity (The Important Bigwigs, URthe1), migration (Exchange Currencies), and the symbolic and emotional fabric of family and community (Comensais, Familiar Icons). The artist works primarily through painting, combining traditional glazing techniques with fields of pure color or gradients that evoke the digital sphere. Repetition is a constant in his practice, serving as a way to interact with the serial logic that shapes contemporary experience. He uses personal images, common cultural references, and found faces, reinterpreting them through a grammar that blends Orthodox iconography, advertising aesthetics, emojis, and digital interfaces. His works have been exhibited in Spain, Portugal, Germany, Denmark, Belgium, Mexico, and the United States, and are present in private collections worldwide. Since 2022, the artist has been coordinating Casa das Peritas, an online gallery with a physical space in the rural area of Costa da Morte, Galicia, which also hosts occasional artistic and curatorial projects in collaboration with other artists.
