About
Ana Cazacu is the first and only "Iron Woman" from the Republic of Moldova, becoming a pioneer in ultratriathlon through remarkable international performances. She earned a finisher medal at the Ironman race, being the first Moldovan woman registered and to complete the full distance, ranking second in her age category at Ironman Tallinn. She also won one of the world's toughest triathlon races in Brazil and took second place in an ultra-triathlon competition in Mexico, demonstrating exceptional endurance in combined swimming, cycling, and running events over extended distances. The athlete overcame gender prejudice from childhood, when boys excluded her from football games, and later the skepticism of men who doubted women's ability to complete Ironman races. Through perseverance, Ana proved otherwise, transforming challenges into motivation and inspiring other women to believe in their potential. Her career in competitive sports represents a continuous personal discovery, revealing leadership qualities and setting an example in the Moldovan triathlon community. Before dedicating herself to ultratriathlon, Ana dreamed of a career in accounting, but her passion for sports prevailed, defining her today as a woman of steel. She represents Moldova at international competitions, promoting values such as determination and gender equality in sports, and continues to set national records in ultra-triathlon.
